Lanarkshire have put in place well being telephone support lines to provide essential assistance to those who are in the ‘increased risk’ group. This group is wider than the highest risk group (the shielded group). The service will offer help to those who do not have family or existing community support and who are over 70, disabled, require the support of mental health services, are pregnant or receive a flu jab for health reasons.
The service is also available to those who are self-isolating and do not have friends or family nearby who are able to help them. The telephone support service can offer help with basic shopping, medicine delivery, links to social work services, emotional support and contact with local volunteer groups.
